28/03/2017 (Agence Europe) – The Conference of the Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) called in a press release on Tuesday 28 March for account to be taken of the interests of the regions in Brexit negotiations. It warns of a disproportionate impact on some areas, such as Brittany, Cornwall, Flanders, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, of a “hard” Brexit or if no agreement is reached. The CPMR says that the United Kingdom must deliver on agreed commitments in the current multiannual financial framework. Chief EU negotiator on Brexit Michel Barnier, a former regional policy commissioner, recently told the Committee of the Regions that he will make sure that the UK fulfils its budgetary commitments (see EUROPE 11751).
