28/03/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 28 March, the European Commission spokesperson, Margaritis Schinas, indicated that the European Commission would demonstrate as much transparency as possible during the negotiations on the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union. The spokesperson said that this would be done in a way that was similar to the method undertaken during the trade negotiations with the US (TTIP). Since the beginning of the Juncker Commission at the end of 2014, the Commission has gradually published the negotiating texts, EU positions and progress reports after each negotiating session with Washington. Schinas, however, further clarified the Commission’s determination regarding this, saying that the institution would act within the limits set by EU law, and adding that some information relating to trade or public security could not be unveiled.
