Reacting to repression, EU calls again on Belarusian authorities to respect fundamental freedoms

A spokesperson for the European External Action Service (EEAS) called again on Saturday 25 March for Belarus to respect human rights and fundamental freedoms, including freedom of speech, association and assembly, and for the immediate release of all peaceful citizens recently imprisoned in Belarus for attending peaceful demonstrations.  This follows an earlier appeal by the EU on 17 March, which was ignored (see EUROPE 11749).
