10/02/2017 (Agence Europe) – The Committee of the Regions (CoR) adopted an opinion on Wednesday 8 February calling for the remaining European funds from the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) to be better shared. The CoR notes that some 95% of European funding for the period from 2014 to 2020 have already been allocated in the main corridors, side-lining small-scale cross-border projects which are rarely eligible – the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions has already highlighted this situation (see EUYROPE 11661 and 11410). The regions call for money to be made available for these small Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) projects. The CoR suggests progress should be made on the proposal from the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the EU (which has caused great controversy) facilitating cross-border projects (see EUROPE 11380).
