European Parliament urges ICC to open investigation into violations of human rights

On Thursday 19 January, the European Parliament invited the United Nations Security Council and the International Criminal Court to rapidly launch an in-depth investigation into alleged violations of human rights in Burundi during the country’s recent crisis and the risk of genocide in the country.
