MEPs on the European Parliament Environment Committee believe that there should be no procrastination when it comes to taking action to limit the use of mercury in the EU. This is a highly toxic heavy metal and has an impact on both the environment and public health. On Thursday 12 January in Brussels, they unanimously ratified this informal agreement reached with the Council of the EU at the end of 2016 on the draft regulation to transpose the UN Convention of Minimata in the EU.
