06/12/2016 (Agence Europe) – In a press release, the European External Action Service (EEAS) announced that the meeting between EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, on Tuesday 6 December in Brussels, “reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to continue their political dialogue and engagement in areas of common interest and challenges”. Relations between the EU and Turkey are complicated due to the situation in Turkey, which has been criticised by the EU. During their meeting, the EEAS explained that the High Representative and Minister discussed bilateral relations, including internal developments in Turkey, as well as regional issues, such as Syria and its humanitarian implications and the Cyprus settlement talks.
