EIB loan of €190 million for combined-heat-and-power sector in Lithuania

06/12/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 5 December, the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a €190 million loan agreement with Lietuvos Energija for the construction of a new combined-heat-and-power (CHP) plant in Vilnius (which allows for simultaneous production of heat and electricity). The project seeks to lower municipal waste landfill, decrease energy prices as well as cut emissions and improve the security of energy supply in the country.
