27/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 27 October, a new agreement between Canada and the European Commission was concluded to encourage Canadian researchers to join European Research Council (ERC) teams in Europe. President of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Ted Hewitt and Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas signed the agreement in Brussels. The agreement will help Canadian researchers undertake research visits in Europe, temporarily taking part in the teams funded by the ERC in Europe. There will, therefore, be no impact on the EU budget. The first initiative of this kind was signed in 2012 with the US and other agreements followed with funding bodies in South Korea, Argentina, Japan, China, South Africa, Mexico and Brazil. (JK)
