24/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – According to information EUROPE has received, the European Commission study into the cumulated effects of free trade negotiations on the EU agriculture sector is expected to be presented at the European Parliament on 29 November by Commissioners Cecilia Malmström (Trade) and Phil Hogan (Agriculture). According to a document from staff at the Commission's DG Trade, this “exclusively economic” analysis is not expected to look at the social or environmental impact and will focus on the free-trade agreement projects concluded with Canada and Vietnam, the current negotiations with the US, Mercosur and Japan, as well as the negotiations planned with Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Turkey and Mexico. The results expected from study include the impact on changes to trade, production and prices at an exclusively EU level, and do not include an analysis of non-tariff barriers, the document states.
