06/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – All tissue and cell data will now be given a single European code. On Thursday 6 October, the European Commission set up an online platform hosting all these codes at a Community level. This new platform will help trace tissue and cells throughout the supply chain - from donor to patient - and take appropriate measures in the event of problems linked to quality or security. The Single European Code (SEC) is covered by Directive 2015/565. All provisions relating to it will now have to be transposed into national law by the member states before 29 October 2016 and will be applicable as from 29 April 2017.
