Commission earmarks almost €209 million for southern and eastern neighbourhoods

On Monday, 19 September, the European Commission announced further aid to southern and eastern European Union neighbours worth a total of €208.8 million.  

Southern neighbourhood. Out of the €129 million for the Southern Neighbourhood, €50 million will go to Egypt. This aid mainly goes to drainage projects for improving agricultural production (€40 million). The promotion of women's rights in Egypt will receive support of €10 million.
