Towards a single digital gateway

Brussels, 26/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is considering setting up a single digital gateway to help businesses and citizens expand in other member states and on 26 July, it opened a public consultation to quiz users about their needs in this domain.

What role should the national authorities play? What information should it be compulsory to provide? In which language(s)? These are some of the questions asked by the European Commission in its consultation on a single digital gateway that runs until 21 November 2016 to obtain the views of entrepreneurs, citizens, public authorities and other stakeholders.

The Commission's idea is to develop a tool to provide citizens and entrepreneurs with all the information they need to do business beyond national borders, or live, study or work elsewhere in the EU. It will be based on existing portals, contact points and networks, such as the online service 'Solvit.' It would have the job of improving the networks and better connecting them, along with helping citizens and entrepreneurs complete the most commonly used national procedures online. It would pay particular attention to filling gaps and fragmentation of services by gathering, enhancing and adding to information available at European and national level.
