The Italian government has made several requests to use specialist pension funds for investing €500 million in the Atlante 2 undertaking it wants to set up, in an effort to buy out non-performing loans, according to a report in Reuters on Tuesday 26 July. ADEPP, the association of sector-specific pension funds, informed Reuters that it supported the request made by the government but that the decision would be made by its members individually. The Italian state financing agency Cassa Depositi e Prestiti is ready to provide a similar amount. (EL)
