04/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - Films in running for Lux Prize revealed. On Monday 4 July, the European Parliament announced the ten films competing for the Lux Prize, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary. The ten are: À peine j'ouvre les yeux (As I open my Eyes) by Leyla Bouzid; A Syrian Love Story by Sean McAllister; Krigen (A War) by Tobias Lindholm; Cartas da Guerra (Letters from War) by Ivo M Ferreira; La Pazza Gioia (Like Crazy) by Paolo Virzi; L'Avenir (Things to Come) by Mia Hansen-Love; Ma Vie de Courgette (My Life as a Courgette) by Claude Barras; Sieranevada by Cristi Puiu; Suntan by Argyris Papadimitropoulos; Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade. “The 10 films … cover a range of genres, stories, artistic approaches and messages with a special focus on exceptionally talented young directors”, says the European Parliament in its press release. The three films short-listed for the finals will be announced in the end of July and the prize ceremony will take place in Strasbourg in November. (SPj)
