30/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - Luxleaks, Court highlights bad translation of "wrongdoing" in "business secrecy" directive. In the decision on the so-called Luxleaks case (see EUROPE 11583) the Court of First Instance in Luxembourg referred to the incorrect translation of the term "wrongdoing" in its decision of Wednesday 29 June, as highlighted by Julia Reda MEP (Greens/EFA, Germany) speaking on Twitter. In the part focusing on the current lack of protection for whistleblowers, the Court indicated that the future directive would guarantee protection in cases involving the "revelation of professional fault" whereas "reprehensible act" had been retained at the end of a long inter-institutional political-legal-linguistic debate (see EUROPE 11558 and 11555).
