Brussels, 14/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 13 June, the European Commission announced six new projects, costing a total of over €146 million in European investment, to help tackle the root causes of irregular migration in the Sahel region and the Lake Chad Basin.
The projects will be funded by the Emergency Trust Fund for Africa that was launched at the extraordinary EU-Africa summit in Valletta, Malta, in November 2015. Funding will be allocated as follows:
