Brussels, 02/05/2016 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is preparing to adopt a number of regulations to include names in the registers of protected designations of origin (PDOs) and protected geographical indications (PGIs).
It will register a German PDO, Allgäuer Sennalpkäse, a mature hard cheese made locally in the cheese dairies of the Allgäu mountains.
The Commission will also register the following PGIs: - 'Zagorski puran', turkey from the Zagorje region of Croatia; - 'Pintade de l'Ardèche', guinea fowl from the Ardèche, in France; - 'Poulet de l'Ardèche/Chapon de l'Ardèche', chicken; - 'Sel de Salies-de-Béarn', salt from the south-west of France; - Soumatrain, a soft cheese produced in several French departments, made exclusively from whole cow's milk; - 'Gall del Penedès', fresh poultry meat produced in France, and 'Fogaça da Feira', a special sweet, lemon- and cinnamon-flavoured bread produced in Portugal.
