11/05/2016 (Agence Europe) - Two new European Commission directors. On Wednesday 11 May, the Commission's press department announced that the European Commission had decided to appoint Tatjana Verrier to the position of Director for Resources in its Secretariat-General (SG) and Genoveva Ruiz Calavera to the position of Director for the Western Balkans in its department for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) - both as of 1 June. Verrier, a Latvian national, comes from a Head of Unit position in the Commission's Competition department, which she joined in 2008. Ruiz Calavera, a Spanish national, has been working in the area of external relations and neighbourhood policy for nearly 20 years. She is currently Head of Unit for the partnership instrument in the European Commission's foreign policy instruments department. She joined the Commission in 1992. (CG)
