09/05/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU condemns "unacceptable" attack on refugee camp. A refugee camp was the victim of a deadly attack by the Syrian army in the north of Syria on Thursday 5 May and has provoked indignation from the EU. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Federica Mogherini, and the European Council Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides, stated "the most vulnerable people continue be the first victims of the conflict. Refugee camps should be a place where those most in need can find sanctuary from conflict, not targets of violence". They pointed out that "Attacks on refugee camps are unacceptable and constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law" and reiterated the urgent need for "all parties to the conflict" to respect humanitarian law.
