13/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - 1st European Employers' Day. Between 4 and 15 April, European Network of Public Employment Services (PES) is organising meetings throughout the European Union, as well as in Iceland and Norway, between the national PES and almost 150,000 employers, in an effort to promote dialogue about employment policies. At this event, the Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, Marianne Thyssen, visited the manufacturer of Eddy Merckx Cycles bicycles in Zellik, Belgium. During a press conference, she highlighted the fundamental role played by the PES in promoting employment and the inclusion of refugees. With regard to the Commission contribution, she pointed out that she would "soon" present an "ambitious" agenda for new skills. This is scheduled for 1 June. (JK)
