13/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - Two Italian ministers oppose “wall” separating Austria and Italy. On Tuesday 12 April, the respective Ministers for Foreign Affairs and the Interior, Paolo Gentiloni and Angelino Alfano, sent a letter to Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos. In this letter, they asked the Commissioner to take swift action, following the declarations made by the Austrian government regarding its intentions to build a physical barrier at the Brenner Pass border point. This decision to reintroduce internal border controls does not appear to be based on the facts, explain the two ministers. Questioned about this subject on 12 April, the Commission said that it was concerned by it and is prepared to deal with this dossier if these declarations are put into practice. (SP)
