06/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - Air freight dips in Europe. European air freight made up nearly 22.3% share of the global market in February 2016, a fall of 2.4% compared with February 2015, the latest figures released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) reveal. The fall is particularly marked in Germany, IATA notes. It adds that, since the start of the financial crisis, European air freight has struggled to exceed its 2008 level. Globally, air freight has fallen by 5.6%. There are two main reasons for this drop, according to IATA: the port strikes in the US in early 2015 caused a spike in air freight, and the Chinese Lunar New Year which fell in February this year.
