06/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - European satellite navigation competition 2016 open. The European Satellite Navigation Competition will take place from 1 April to 30 June 2016, the European Commission announced on Tuesday 5 April. With prizes worth a total of €1 million, this is the largest international competition for the commercial use of satellite navigation. In addition to providing financial aid, the prize also includes technical, managerial and legal support. Among the markets, this year's edition will include drones, a sector in which the Commission is greatly interested (see EUROPE 11438). The competition has been going since 2004 and has recognised around 270 projects out of the more than 3,500 ideas submitted over that time. (PH)
