04/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - "Medias" directive 'examined. We are now just a few clicks away from knowing the way in which the directive on audio-visual media services is applied in different European countries. The European Commission made a commitment to revising this text in June 2016 and on Monday 4 April the European Audiovisual Observatory (a Council of Europe body) published a free database on the transposition of the directive. This tool, for example, helps us to find out the differences between television advertising for alcoholic products in Greece and Sweden or the length of free football coverage in TV news. The database (available at: http://avmsd.obs.coe.int/cgi-bin/search.php ) has been developed by way of the joint endeavours made by the Council of Europe and the Faculty of Law, Economic and Finance at the University of Luxembourg.
