Avian flu - million birds slaughtered in EU over five years

Brussels, 01/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - In answer to a question from MEP Maria Noichl (S&D, Germany), European Health Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis took stock of the impact of the outbreaks of avian flu in Europe over the past five years.

Between 2010 and 2015, eight EU member states were affected (France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania) and 1.115 birds were slaughtered. The main epidemic was recorded in 2013, with 946,982 head of poultry...
