21/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - Following another terrorist attack in Istanbul, EU reiterates solidarity with Turkey. On Saturday 19 March, the European Union reiterated its continuing solidarity and support for Turkey, “confronted as the whole international community is by the threat of terrorism”, following another terrorist attack in Istanbul. During the EU-Turkey Summit on 18 March, the leaders reiterated their continued support for the fight against terrorism in all its different forms. The attack on 19 March in a busy high-street in a tourist area of Istanbul killed at least four people, three Israelis and one Iranian and left thirty-six people injured, including seven who are in a critical condition. The suicide bomber also died. According to the Turkish authorities, the Islamic State organisation was responsible for this attack, the third in the country over the past month. (CG)
