17/03/2016 (Agence Europe) -BirdLife Europe says Baltic management plan will not solve overfishing. The Baltic cod stock management plan provided a ray of hope for seabirds (reducing the number of incidental by-catches) but it will not put a stop to overfishing, explained the NGO BirdLife Europe in a press release published on Wednesday 16 March (see EUROPE 11513). According to this organisation, the plan's parameters set out fishing quotas at levels that are too high. (LC)
