Advocate General takes position against generalised obligation to secure public-access Wi-Fi networks

Brussels, 16/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - The idea of bringing in a general obligation to secure Wi-Fi networks in order to protect copyright on the Internet is likely to bring about “a disadvantage to society as a whole”, which would be likely to be greater than the potential benefit to the owners of these rights, Advocate General Maciej Szpunar told the Court of Justice of the EU on Wednesday 16 March.
