Brussels, 10/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is preparing a statement of objections against the American Internet giant Google over its Android mobile telephone operating system, the agency Bloomberg reported on Wednesday 9 March.
The Commission opened formal investigation proceedings into Android on 15 April 2015 (see EUROPE 11295). The aim of this investigation was to determine whether Google had illegally hindered the development and market access of operating systems for mobile devices and applications and the mobile communication services of its competitors within the European Economic Area. The Commission informed Google last year of its objections regarding Google Shopping, Google's price comparison service. In its statement of objections, the Commission argued that Google systematically favoured its own price comparison service in its general search results pages.
According to the French daily newspaper Le Monde, the Commission may prepare an addition to this earlier statement of objections. (Original version in French by Elodie Lamer)
