25/02/2016 (Agence Europe) -EURES reform approved by EP. On 25 February in Brussels, during a plenary session vote, the European Parliament approved legislation to reform the European Employment Services Network (EURES) (576 for, 56 against and 21 abstentions). It should be pointed out that the first challenge is to develop a new Internet portal that ensures the automatic coordination of employment requests and offers. These will be made available by all the different actors by proposing both private and public sector job offers. Placement and apprenticeship offers will also be included for the first time (see EUROPE 11443). It will now be up to the Council of the EU to definitively approve the text and once this has been done, member states will have a two-year deadline to apply it. (JK)
