25/02/2016 (Agence Europe) - Council exchange on good anti-radicalisation practices. On 24 February, Education Ministers concluded their meeting on the exchange of views for promoting citizenship and fundamental values through education, as part of the Paris Declaration. This declaration was adopted after the terrorist attacks in France and Denmark at the beginning of 2015 and encourages states to cooperate in an effort to ensure that children and young adults acquire social, civic and intercultural skills that help them to enhance their critical faculties, particularly on the Internet. During the meeting, France gave a presentation on education to the media, whilst the Czech Republic provided one on the subject of education and citizenship and Spain looked at ways of strengthening teachers' resources in this connection. During the press conference, the Dutch Minister for Education, Culture and Sciences, Jet Bussemaker, explained “We have learnt a lot from each other during this exchange”. (SPj)
