24/02/2016 (Agence Europe) - Targeted revision of posting of workers directive to be proposed on 8 March. The European Commission is expected to present a proposal on 8 March for a targeted review of the directive on the posting of workers (96/71/EC), according to the newspaper Les Echos on Wednesday 24 February, confirming a timetable previously spoken of (see EUROPE 11465). It will no longer be a job mobility “package” since the proposal to amend Regulation No 883/2004 on coordinating social security systems will now no longer be included. This is as a consequence of the European Council decision on the United Kingdom's new deal with the EU which affects, inter alia, social benefits (see EUROPE 11495). The proposal amending this regulation is expected after the British referendum on 23 June. Employment and Social Affairs Commissioner Marianne Thyssen was in Paris on an official visit on Tuesday 23 February before travelling to Berlin on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 February. (JK)
