09/02/2016 (Agence Europe) - RegioStars 2016 launched. On Friday 5 February, the European Commission launched the 2016 edition of RegioStars awards, the objective of which is to identify good practice in regional development and to highlight original and innovative projects. The competition has five award categories: 1) Smart Growth: Emerging opportunities in the global economy; 2) Sustainable Growth: Circular Economy; 3) Inclusive Growth: Integrated living - building inclusive and non-segregated communities; 4) CityStar: Innovative solutions for sustainable urban development; 5) Effective Management: Making a difference by managing differently. The platform for the submission of applications will be accessible from 15 February to 15 April. The awards will be presented by Regional Policy Commissioner Corina Cretu at a ceremony on 11 October.
