Brussels, 01/02/2016 (Agence Europe) - A press release from the Euro-Mediterranean Forum of Institutes of Economic Sciences (FEMISE) on Thursday 28 January states that FEMISE and the Economic Research Forum (ERF) have published the conclusions of an expert group meeting that was held “to better understand the multiple facets of innovation, identify the factors that promote it and highlight the potentials and challenges of the South Med countries”.
The participants underlined the need to foster cooperation in research and innovation between the southern Mediterranean and the EU. A European Commission representative, Heba Gaber, from the EU delegation in Egypt, said that that “there are many strategies and roadmaps regarding cooperation in research and innovation” - in particular through the Horizon 2020 programme. “The EU will also seek to foster cooperation between the South-Med and the EU in research and innovation in sectors such as water availability and management and food security”, the press release states.
