27/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - Appointment of Special Representative on Migration and Refugees. Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland announced on Tuesday 26 February the appointment a Special Representative on Migration and Refugees. Tomas Bocek, Czech Republic permanent representative to the Council of Europe (CoE), will occupy this post. He will undertake fact-finding missions and will be responsible for liaison between the CoE and its international partners, such as the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), UNICEF, the European Union and its external border management agency Frontex. He will take up his post next week and his objective will be to collect and analyse information on the human rights situation of migrants and refugees in Europe. (VL)
