26/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - Canete in Istanbul at end of January for EU-Turkey strategic energy partnership. European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Canete will lead a European delegation to Istanbul for the first meeting of the high level energy dialogue between the EU and Turkey on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 January. The discussions with the Turkish side, which is being led by Turkish minister for energy Berat Albayrak, will address all the bilateral energy cooperation issues (integrating the Turkish energy market with that of the EU; energy efficiency and renewables, climate change and COP 21 follow-up; gas markets and interconnections, including the development of the Southern Gas Corridor and the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline - TANAP; electricity markets; nuclear safety; developments in accession negotiations and opening the Energy Chapter; and regional cooperation in the Mediterranean and Energy Community). On 29 January, Canete and Albayrak will take part in a round table discussion with the Turkish private energy sector. (EH)
