20/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - Paris and Berlin want to limit length of posting to two years. In a joint interview with her German colleague Andrea Nahles, published in French newspaper Les Echos on Wednesday 20 January, France's Minister for Labour Myriam El Khomri stated that the review of the directive on the posting of workers (96/71/EC), which the European Commission is preparing to propose soon (see EUROPE 11465), should set “a maximum limit of two years for the posting”. This idea is supported by a coalition of member states, including France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and the Netherlands, El Khomri stated. She also said that the review should impose the principle of “equal pay for equal work in the same place” and set “a minimum length of seniority for the employee in the company which posts him/her so as to put an end to 'letter-box companies' created just to post employees”.
