20/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - European Union speaks out against deadly university attack. On Wednesday 20 January, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini spoke out against the attack on Bacha Khan University in Pakistan. The attack has reportedly left at least 21 people dead and around 30 wounded, and was made a year after the attack on the Peshawar Army School in the same province, which claimed over 150 lives. The Bacha Khan University attack is “another attack against the innocent, the youth and the very future of Pakistan”, Mogherini stated in a press release. “An attack on a place of study is not only cowardly, but it is also an attack on all of us who believe in the power and the importance of education”, she added. Mogherini stated that the EU stands firmly by the people and authorities of Pakistan in their fight against terrorism. This fight “is not theirs alone. We, as the international community, must all continue to face it and overcome it together”, she said. (CG)
