19/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - European Parliament expects 1st study into cumulated effects of financial regulation at end of 2016. By adopting the report by Burkhard Balz (EPP, Germany) on Tuesday 19 January, the European Parliament is effectively making recommendations for a regulatory approach in the financial services sector. It is advocating a five yearly review of the effects of the regulation adopted. The first is expected by the end of the year. During the plenary debate the day before, the Commissioner for Financial Services, Jonathan Hill, pointed out that the European Commission's analysis of the cumulated effects of the financial legislation began with a consultation of the stakeholders that would be concluded by the end of January. He said that this will “help determine our approach to over 100 reviews of existing legislation planned over the next five years”. (MB)
