Brussels, 19/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - Annual inflation stood at 0.2% in the eurozone in December 2015, which was slightly up on November (0.1%), according to figures published by the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Tuesday 19 January.
The annual inflation rate of the EU was 0.2% in December 2015, compared to 0.1% in November.
In December 2015, negative annual rates were observed in 12 countries: Bulgaria (-0.9%), Romania (-0.7%), Cyprus and Slovenia (-0.6% each), Poland and Slovakia (-0.5% each), Croatia, Lithuania and Finland (-0.3% each), Estonia (-0.2%) and the Czech Republic and Spain (-0.1% each). Inflation was just into positive figures in Italy and the United Kingdom (0.1% each) and very low in Germany (0.2%) and France (0.3%). Inflation was highest in Belgium (1.4%), Malta (1.2%) and Austria (1.1%).
The greatest upwards impacts on eurozone inflation came from catering (+0.1%), whilst transport fuels (-0.4%) had the greatest downward impacts. (Original version in French by Mathieu Bion)
