On Tuesday 15 December, the European Parliament adopted its negotiating position on the regulation amending Regulation 1236/2010 establishing a control and coercion system in the zone of the convention on future multilateral cooperation in the fisheries of the North-East Atlantic (NEAFC). The main change aligns the system with the FAO agreement on port state measures to prevent and eliminate unlawful, undeclared and unregulated fishing, an agreement approved by the European Union in 2011.
