14/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - New EU emergency aid. On Monday 14 December, the European Commission announced that it is releasing €15 million in new emergency aid for Yemen. The European Parliament has already given its agreement, and the EU Council of Ministers is expected to do so over the next few days. The announcement comes as a seven-day ceasefire is due to begin in the night of Monday 14 to Tuesday 15 December, and the money will help in the start of peace talks in Switzerland under the aegis of the United Nations. The €15 million will bring the Commission's total humanitarian support to the country to €52 million for 2015. (JK)
