14/12/2015 (Agence Europe) -Increase in 'Community' contribution to Turkey. On Friday 11 December, the European Commission proposed that the member states increase the Community contribution from €500 million to €1 billion of the €3 billion that the member states promised Turkey on 29 November to help it improve the fate of refugees. The Commission suggested €500 million at the start from the EU budget, with the member states being required to find the remaining €2.5 million, but they were not happy about this. How this refugee fund is to be financed will continue to be discussed by EU28 ambassadors on Monday 14 December, with the aim of finding a solution before the European Summit. (SP)
