Brussels, 07/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 7 December, employment ministers from the EU member states, adopted, without debate, the European Commission recommendation promoting the professional inclusion of the long-term unemployed (see EUROPE 11391).
Based on the youth initiative model (the “youth guarantee”) but without its own budget funding, this recommendation seeks to target the long-term unemployed who are aged over 30 or between 25 and 30 when they are unable to benefit from the “youth guarantee”.
The member states are therefore committed to implementing three areas of action. They will attempt to systematically ensure that the long-term unemployed benefit from employment services. They will also attempt to provide each long-term unemployed jobseeker with an individual assessment that helps them to work out their needs and potential by the time they have been unemployed for 18 months at the latest. In this timeframe, they will also ultimately work to ensure that all these jobseekers benefit from a professional inclusion agreement. (Original version in French by Jan Kordys)
