19/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - Ukraine joins Creative Europe programme at a reduced price. Following Georgia and Moldova, it is now the turn of Ukraine to join the EU Creative Europe programme for the cultural and creative sectors. Thanks to this collaboration, which became official in Kiev on Thursday 19 November, candidates from the Ukraine will be eligible for support for cultural cooperation projects, literary translation systems and festivals. There is just one slight difference in this case - Kiev has paid just a symbolic €1. In general, the Commission charges an entrance fee calculated on a pro-rata share of the participating country in the programme's budget (€1.46 billion for 2014-2020) of the basis of the gross domestic product (GDP) of the participant country. Under this formula, Ukraine should have paid nearly €1 million. According to an expert, the Commission will reassess this entrance fee annually, “to take account of the political and economic situation of the country, and its level of involvement with the programme”.
