Antalya, 16/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - The annual inflation rate stood at 0.1% in the eurozone in October and 0.0% in the EU, up from September, when it was -0.1% in both zones, according to data published by the statistical office of the EU (Eurostat) on Monday 16 November.
In October, negative annual rates were observed in 13 countries: Cyprus (-1.8%), Romania (-1.4%), Bulgaria (-1.2%), Slovenia (-1.1%), Spain (-0.9%), Poland (-0.6%), Croatia and Slovakia (-0.5% each), Lithuania (-0.4%), Finland (-0.3%) and Greece, Latvia and Luxembourg -(0.1% each). The highest annual rates were to be seen in Malta (1.6%), Belgium (1.2%), Sweden (0.9%) and Austria and Portugal (0.7% each). In Germany and France, inflation was low (+0.2%). Compared to September, inflation was down in four countries, unchanged in seven and up in 16 others.
The largest upwards impacts to euro area annual inflation came from vegetables (+0.14 percentage points), restaurants and cafés (+0.10 pp) and fruit (+0.07pp) while fuels for transport (-0.68pp), heating oil (-0.22pp) and gas (-0.09pp) had the biggest downward impacts.
