20/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Cross border care still hindered by red tape. During its second meeting on Wednesday 14 October, the Workgroup on Cross-Border Cooperation, launched by Anne Sander MEP (EPP, France) in June (see EUROPE 11342), focused on the cross-border administrative proceedings for health care. Some of the participants attending criticised the sluggish transposition of the 2011 directive on cross-border healthcare (2011/24/EU), as well as, at a more general level, the lack of determination displayed by some member states, such as France, for facilitating these proceedings. The objective outlined by the group is to help develop the consultation launched by the European Commission to target the barriers to cross-border cooperation and examine implementation of the 2011/24 directive. The next meeting will take place in February 2016. (PH)
