Brussels, 20/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - The joint committee on EU-Morocco fisheries held its second session in Brussels on 14-16 October, and the parties stated that they were happy with the application of the fisheries agreement. A press release from Morocco's ministry for agriculture and fisheries on Monday 19 October says the committee meeting went smoothly. The protocol agreement on fisheries with Morocco entered into force in July 2014.
A satisfactory result was given for the implementation of this protocol's provisions “in its technical and financial dimension in its first year of execution”. As regards the technical section, EU-Morocco cooperation is also reportedly satisfactory. “The European side congratulated Morocco on implementation of the sectoral support”, and on its “conformity with the spirit of the protocol”, the press release states.
Morocco and the EU, it is stated, “had agreed on projects to implement so as to contribute to the development of the national fishing sector”. (Original version in French by Fathi B'Chir)
