Brussels, 08/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - In the night from Wednesday 7 to Thursday 8 October, the Greek government of Alexis Tsipras won a vote of confidence at the Parliament, based solely on the support of his own troops. 155 MPs out of 300 gave him their support. That same day, a former IMF economist, Olivier Blanchard, said that the austerity measures Greece must adopt in the framework of its third bailout plan went beyond what would be fair. At an event at Cass Business School, however, Blanchard recognised that the budgetary consolidation demanded of Greece for the coming years is less rigourous than what has been asked of the country in the past, “but still is more than is right”. According to the Greek press, the 2016 budget includes 6.4 billion euros' worth of new economy measures. (Original version in French by Élodie Lamer)
